The pistachio (Pistacia vera L., Anacardiaceae) is a small tree native to some regions of Syria, Iran, Turkey, Greece, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, India and possibly Afghanistan (especially in the provinces of Samangan and Badghis), that produces an important culinary nut.
